Paraplanning Excellence is an intense day of relevant investment-focused learning for paraplanners who want to get ahead. It provides up to the minute product information; trend data; and case study learning on all aspects affecting the busy paraplanner’s role.

This packed day has been put together in association with Invesco Perpetual and Schroders, two of the most substantial asset managers in the country.

This year will be the 6th annual event bringing together 90 investment paraplanners from financial advisory firms across the UK.

    Alister is responsible for communicating Invesco Perpetual’s fixed interest investment capabilities to external and internal clients. He began his investment career in 1990, working at HSBC Bank and HSBC Asset Management in various roles covering investment communications, fund selection, performance monitoring, unit pricing and fund accounting. He joined Invesco Perpetual in April 2007 and transferred to the Fixed Interest team in 2011.

    Joel represents Invesco Perpetual’s European Equities investment capabilities to external and internal clients. He joined the company as Product Director for Invesco Perpetual’s European Equities team in March 2012, reporting directly to Jeff Taylor, Head of European Equities at Invesco Perpetual. He began his industry career in 1998, joining Dresdner Kleinwort as an analyst covering the Pan European Transportation sector before moving to Nomura in the same area of expertise. Joel holds a BA (Honours) in Business Studies from Manchester Metropolitan University.

    Managing Director, Verbatim Asset Management

    Dan Russell serves as the Managing Director at Verbatim Asset Management. He previously served as the Head of Sales at the firm and worked on The Verbatim Discretionary Service. He originally joined Verbatim in August 2012 as a Sales Manager. Prior to this in his career dan served as the Managing Director of Russell Consulting Associates Ltd. He earned his MBA from Warwick Business School and a BA in Linguistics and Literature from Durham University.

    John is a chartered accountant having trained with EY. He worked in senior positions in a number of financial services businesses, including the Finance Director of a Japanese-owned private equity firm, prior to becoming Managing Director of Torquil Clark, the national IFA business, in 2003. John led the business through an organic and acquisition growth strategy resulting in the acquisition of four businesses in eighteen months and the ultimate sale of the business in 2008 to Skipton Building Society. The sale to Skipton resulted in a trebling of shareholder value in the five years he managed the business. Following the sale to Skipton, John remained with the organisation and guided the continued growth of the business. Following the international financial crisis, Skipton’s strategy changed and a decision was made to dispose of Torquil Clark. The stake was acquired by the national consolidator, Bellpenny. John stayed with the organisation until the end of 2015 when he left to set up the consulting business which would eventually become Orion Consulting Group. John’s background in running a diverse IFA group and buying and selling businesses within the sector gives him a unique insight into M&A strategy, integration and developing businesses of value.

    Fund Manager, Invesco Perpetual

    Ciaran is responsible for the management of a number of UK equity portfolios. He began his investment career in 1994, joining HSBC where he was as an investment analyst before moving to United Friendly Asset Management (UFAM) in 1999 as a fund manager and joining our company in 2005. He holds an MA in Chemistry from Oxford University, the Securities Institute Diploma and is a CFA Charterholder.

  • Georgina Taylor

    Georgina Taylor

    Multi Asset Product Director, Invesco Perpetual

    Georgina joined the company in June 2013, and serves as the Research Director for the Multi Asset team. Previously, she was Head of Equity Strategy, EMEA, for State Street Global Markets, where she was involved in enhancing the macro input to specific State Street products, and presenting this to clients. She commenced her career in 2001 as an equity strategist at HSBC, followed by a similar role at Goldman Sachs in 2004 where she was involved in global equity and asset allocation research. Georgina then gained asset management experience at Legal & General Investment Management, contributing to the overall asset allocation outlook for the firm and multi asset funds. She graduated from the University of Bath in 2000 with a BSc (Hons) in Economics.

    Regional Sales Manager - Nationals & Networks, Invesco Perpetual

    Matt graduated from Kings College London in 1995 with a BA (Hons) in War Studies. After starting his career at M&G and Fleming Save & Prosper, Matt moved to Framlington Fund Managers in 1997, and joined CCLA Investment Management in 2000 to develop their Local Authority Pension business. He joined Invesco Perpetual in 2002 as a Regional Sales Manager, becoming Nationals & Networks Account Manager in 2012, before taking on his current role as Presenter in 2014. Matt is a member of the CFA Society of the UK and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

He has more than 25 years industry experience, starting at F&C Asset Management in 1987 where he became Head of UK Retail. Jamie was also Head of Investments at Bankhall Investment Associates, part of the Skandia group and Head of Investment Proposition at Aviva Wrap.

    Andy joined Momentum Global Investment Management on 15th June 2015 and is responsible for leading the retail team; he will focus on engaging with UK IFAs, networks and fund platforms. Andy Davies, previously Sales Director at Skandia and more recently Head of Business Development at Sanlam UK, brings with him a wealth of industry experience having worked in the arena for almost three decades.

    Keith is a director of Benchmark Capital, a group of companies incorporating a multi award-winning IFA practice, a support organisation for Chartered IFAs, a software company and a discretionary platform. In previous lives, Keith has run his own consultancy firm, worked for several global software companies, run a team of actuaries and ran the Chartered Institute of Marketing for the East of Scotland. Outside work, Keith enjoys spending time with his young family, running and cycling long distances and raising money for CLIC Sargent, an amazing kids’ cancer charity.
