1. Sales Manager – Sponsorship – Hybrid role

What is the opportunity?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, growing events and research company specialising in the world of financial services. Our successful and fast paced team are looking for a qualified Sales Manger who has deep experience with the entire sales process, excelling at lead generation, relationship building, and deal closing. We’re looking for a quick learner who has strong negotiating skills and someone with a successful track record in generating and closing new sales leads.

This role will provide support for the business’ marketing and sales initiatives and will be tasked with identifying, developing and implementing new sales leads to expand and meet sponsorship targets in order to increase revenue.

The duties will include market research, developing new business from scratch, arranging and attending client sales meetings and prospecting your potential target market through to closing sales opportunities. Building and maintaining strong relationships with new and existing clients is key.

The successful candidate needs to be computer literate, confident, target driven, have a good phone manner, be a team player and have fresh ideas to encourage the potential growth within our business.

Core responsibilities

  • Self-generate new leads, appointments, and referrals through day-to-day new business activity
  • Attend and close your own sales appointments
  • Generate and attend meetings with potential introducers and referral partners
  • Achieve quarterly sales targets
  • Accurately build, manage, and maintain a sales pipeline
  • Thrive on working in a fast paced and target focussed environment

Attitude, skills and experience  

  • 5 years plus track record of selling in field based/ B2B role
  • Confidence in value based/consultative selling
  • Ability to adapt and develop solutions to clients' needs with clear and decisive communication
  • Ability to sell to different audiences and ideally have a background in Financial Services
  • Persuasiveness and temperament allow you to regularly win new customers
  • Extremely organised - ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal, with an excellent telephone manner
  • Flexibility – we are a small team and you need to be a team player
  • Professionalism – to act as an ambassador for the company, reflecting the values and mission of Owen James in all meetings, events and communications
  • Self-motivation - proactive and enthusiastic, with a professional and can-do attitude
  • Systems - ideally worked with a CRM system previously

Work remotely

  • We work from the office on Monday and Wednesday and the rest of the week we work from home

Position details 

  • Salary available upon application and based on experience
  • We review salaries regularly and readily reward where appropriate
  • Holiday allowance is 20 days per annum plus the period between Christmas and New Year depending upon when the holidays fall
  • For every year of service completed this allowance increases by one day up to a limit of 25 days in total
  • Contract type: Permanent role, 5 days a week
  • Location: We are pretty flexible about where you are based and currently expect two working days of the week to be office based. We have a team located at our head office in Godalming, Surrey and one in London. We do ask all employees be prepared to make the journey to the head office at least once a month. Initially this post would need to travel to the Godalming office on the set working days
  • Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

2. Marketing Executive - Hybrid role

What is the opportunity?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, growing events and research company specialising in the world of financial services. Our successful and fast paced team are looking for a savvy Marketing Executive who is self-motivated, hardworking, with a marketing background and who is confident with their ideas and hungry to continue to grow.

This role will provide support for the business’ marketing initiatives and plan and will be tasked with creating and implementing relevant marketing initiatives to further sales and attendance to meet event targets.

The duties will include helping with delivering marketing campaigns, creating and coordinating marketing content and facilitating cross-functional team efforts.

The successful candidate needs to be computer literate, have a good eye for detail, have excellent proof-reading skills, be a team player and have fresh ideas to encourage the potential growth within our business.

Core responsibilities

  • Supporting the Marketing Manager in completing agreed activities
  • Supporting the development and execution of the company’s marketing and branding strategies
  • Assisting in producing creative content for marketing campaigns and social media
  • Contributing ideas to marketing campaigns
  • Devise new initiatives and original copy for the website and social media that will grow sales
  • Write and proofread copy, ensuring a consistent tone of voice
  • Use analytics to monitor the performance, and utilise these reports for future strategies
  • Understanding brand guidelines and consistently implementing the brand voice across all channels and marketing materials
  • Create email templates within the marketing automation platform and provide reports on email campaign performance
  • Monitoring marketing industry news and emerging trends

Attitude, skills and experience  

  • Basic knowledge of marketing concepts and principles
  • Excellent copywriting, editing and proofreading skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Working knowledge of content management systems and automated marketing software
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Extremely organised - ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Creative flair with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Tech savvy - with desired experience in using InDesign, Photoshop, Canva or other design software
  • Flexibility – we are a small team and you need to be a team player
  • Professionalism – to act as an ambassador for the company, reflecting the values and mission of Owen James in all meetings, events and communications
  • Self-motivation - proactive and enthusiastic, with a professional and can-do attitude
  • Experience - you will possess a degree level qualification in Marketing
