Sales & Marketing Manager

Owen James Events are seeking a Sales & Marketing Manager for our Private Banking and Wealth Management community. The ideal candidate is someone comfortable dealing with senior men and women; able to be an Owen James ambassador out and about in the market place, handling their own meetings, as well as on the telephone.  The Sales & Marketing Manager will of course attend all relevant events.

As in all things Owen James, there is substantial scope for the sales and marketing manager to devise their own strategy to achieve the delivery of clearly defined targets – the role requires a self-starter. However it also requires a team player – happy to collaborate with all parts of the business, someone who will roll up their sleeves and support whenever necessary.

And key to everything is an upbeat and enthusiastic personality, warm and welcoming. We want our customers to feel pleased to be part of an Owen James event.

Owen James has recently invested a substantial amount of money in building a content management system and the ambition is to shift the current sponsorship model to a membership model and the role will involve this transition. Back up on all fronts is provided by an events delivery team; content management ie research and conference production; and specialist digital marketing. 

The overarching role of the sales and marketing manager is:

1. To nurture the private banking and wealth management community and ensure we have full knowledge of the movers and shakers within these organisations; to keep up to date with the organisations operating in this area; and to understand their issues.
2. To identify the right people - at “C” suite level - to invite to the relevant events and handle the invitation process.
3. To view all relationships in the context of business development ie we work as a team to identify new business opportunities.
4. In terms of KPIs, these will be based on the successful delivery of the required audience and financials; the capturing of knowledge to feed the Owen James engine; and the ability to think big picture and support the ambitious growth plans of the company.

To illustrate the day to day:

  • Working the data – ensuring our database of private bankers, wealth managers and family offices is as good as it gets. We should know all the key roles within each organisation.

  • Researching the industry– ensuring conversations with such senior men and women are informed. Capturing any new developments for the common knowledge pool of the company.

  • Working with the event managers – handing over to the event managers complete data once the audience are confirmed.

  • Working with the digital marketing manager and content manager– to understand what marketing collateral is available for use in convincing these senior men and women to support Owen James activity.

  • Acting as an Owen James ambassador– out in the marketplace meeting and researching the industry and of course actively participating in all relevant events.

  • New thinking– we just love new thinking!

The sales and marketing manager will report to the Director of Sales & Marketing.
