Nick Hulme

Head of Department (Advisers, Wealth and Pensions) at the FCA

Nick joined the FCA in 2019 after a decade in financial stability and prudential supervision roles at the FSA, Bank of England and Prudential Regulation Authority. He has also worked in private office for two Ministers of State at HM Treasury. Prior to this role in Consumer Investments, he worked in the FCA’s Financial Resilience Department. He holds an MBA Dip from Said Business School, Oxford University and BA Hons in Financial Management and Italian from Royal Holloway, University of London. He is also a publicly elected volunteer Governor of East Kent Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and previously a Treasurer Trustee at two sports charities.

Professor of Politics

Matthew J. Goodwin is an academic, writer and speaker known mainly for his work on British and European politics, extremism, immigration and Euroscepticism. He is currently Professor of Politics at Rutherford College, University of Kent, and Senior Visiting Fellow at the Royal Institute of International Affairs, Chatham House. Matthew is a trained political scientist. He received his PhD from the University of Bath in 2007, after which he worked for a self-funded research institute at the University of Manchester. He was then awarded a Postdoctoral Fellowship with the Economic and Social Research Council. He was also recipient of an ESRC Knowledge Exchange Fellowship and spent twelve months on full-time secondment in a UK government department. In 2015 he was appointed Professor of Politics at the University of Kent. In the same year he was awarded an ESRC Senior Fellowship to examine Britain's 2016 EU referendum.

Jon has represented GB, Australia and Sweden across 5 Olympic cycles, and led human performance for Red Bull F1 (Advanced Technologies) for 3 years. He advises many international teams and individuals across sports such as football, cricket, golf and tennis as well as Paralympic disciplines. In the corporate arena he has advised many CEOs and boards across finance, technology and management consultancy sectors, and has designed leading edge performance and wellbeing programmes for global firms including PwC where he has led the development of their executive partner programme.
