Conference Content & Research Manager
We are seeking someone who is able to produce interesting and well written conference programmes reflecting the needs of very senior financial services professionals who participate in Owen James’ events.
The candidate will also be accustomed to capturing and analysing the key outputs from the qualitative and quantitative research carried out at these conferences. Articulate and experienced professional sought to join the team in Godalming in Surrey.
Owen James has recently invested substantially in building a content management system and the ambition is to monetise the data we collect by introducing a membership/subscription model. Key to this will be the work and outputs of the Conference Content and Research Manager.
We see you working very closely with the Digital Marketing Manager to ensure Owen James is seen as a source of industry knowledge.
Substantial back up on all fronts is provided in terms of sales & marketing and event delivery.
The role demands a polished professional with a relaxed and confident telephone manner. We seek someone comfortable dealing with senior men and women; able to be an Owen James ambassador out and about in the market place, handling their own meetings, as well as on the telephone.
As in all things Owen James, there is substantial scope for the Conference Content and Research Manager to devise their own strategy to achieve the delivery of clearly defined targets – the role requires a self-starter. However it also requires a team player – happy to collaborate with all parts of the business, someone who will roll up their sleeves and support whenever necessary.
And key to everything is an upbeat and enthusiastic personality, warm and welcoming. We want our customers to feel pleased to be part of an Owen James event.
To illustrate the day to day:
An understanding of financial services is desirable but not essential. You will however be required to build an understanding of client needs and industry issues in order to be able to set the agenda.
Your role will demand that you identify exciting and relevant content for inclusion in the agenda. You will do this through a combination of extensive desk research and meetings – both face to face and on the phone – with our key clients.
You will write the programmes in an attractive and accessible way. Good copy is fundamental!
Speaker and expert acquisition:
You will identify and approach innovative and inspirational speakers and experts to address the “C” suite audiences at our different events. You will handle the relationship with these people in the run up to and on the day of the event.
A lot of research is captured in the run up to the events. You will be expected to oversee this element of the events - ensuring that the data sought is relevant and valuable. You will also be expected to analyse this research and publish it – in an accessible and consistent way.
At the events themselves, the roundtable format generates substantial qualitative findings and again we look to you to leverage these outputs in terms of publishing and developing new business.
You will be expected to input into the strategic development of each event identifying areas where you see potential for evolution and indeed for launching into new areas.
Ambassador for Owen James Group:
You will act as an ambassador for the company during all meetings and events.
The conference content and research manager will report to the Events Director.
